Mons. Indunil Janakaratne Kodithuwakku K.
Secretary of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue
Indunil Janakaratne Kankanamalage was born in Sri Lanka in 1966 and ordained as a priest in 2000. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Colombo, and a Doctorate in Missiology from the Pontifical University Urbaniana. He has served as a lecturer at the Urbaniana and as a Formator at the Pontifical Urban College de Propaganda Fide in Rome, and joined the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue in 2012, becoming Under-Secretary. He became Secretary on July 4, 2019. Father Indunil is a member of the “Joint Working Group” sponsored by the Dicastery for the Promotion of Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches, a Consultor for the “Reference Group” of the Commission for Interreligious Dialogue of the World Council of Churches, and a Member of the International Association for Catholic Missiologists.
Fr. Paulin Batairwa Kubuya, sx
Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue
Paulin Batairwa Kubuya, sx (sx: xaverian missionary), was born in Congo (DRC) in 1971 and ordained as a priest in 2000. He holds a Master of Arts in Theology from the Maryhill School of Theology (MST) – Philippines, and a Doctorate in Religious Studies from Fu Jen Catholic University (Republic of China – Taiwan). He has served as Executive Secretary for the Commissions for Christian Unity and that of Interreligious Dialogue of the Regional Bishops’ Conference of China -Taiwan. At the time of his appointment as Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, on 11 November 2019, he was Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies in Fu Jen Catholic University. Fr. Paulin is a member of the “Joint Working Group” of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and the World Council of Churches, and a Consultor for the Editrice Missionaria Italiana (EMI).
