The Holy Father appoints Cardinals and Bishops from around the world to join various dicasteries (offices) of the Holy See as members. This is one way that the Catholic Church strengthens collegiality—a spirit of communion and collaboration—among bishops and thus unites the whole Church throughout the world.
DID currently has about forty members from six continents. Through being members of DID, they can express their ideas and concerns to the Holy Father and those who carry out the mission of interreligious dialogue led by him.
