The Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews invite you to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the landmark declaration of the Second Vatican Council that transformed the Catholic Church’s relationship with other religions.
Under the theme “Walking Together in Hope”, this event celebrates six decades of dialogue, fraternity, and mutual understanding among people of different faiths. The evening will include musical performances, testimonies, and reflections that honor the enduring spirit of Nostra Aetate — one of openness, fraternity, and peace.
The event will be available with simultaneous translation in four languages through a dedicated interpretation app. Please bring a smartphone and headphones. (More details and download link to follow.)
Promulgated on 28 October 1965, Nostra Aetate (“In Our Time”) marked a historic turning point in interreligious relations. The document affirms that the Catholic Church “rejects nothing that is true and holy” in other religions, calling all peoples to recognize their shared spiritual heritage and to work together for peace and understanding.
Over the past six decades, Nostra Aetate has inspired countless initiatives of dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperation among believers worldwide.
Entrance tickets are needed to attend the event on 28 October. They can be collected:
